hysteriarama: my mom used to write for the school newspaper when she was doing her undergrad, and a couple years ago we found a box filled with maybe a year’s worth of issues. basically every article was student activist-y, earnest, kinda dry “save wherever” sort of stuff. but my mom’s… playing femme, which is related, can work a similar way. i mean, acting a little ditzy is totally a good way to conserve your energy and not get involved in conversations that are unproductive or worse, particularly with pedantic, patriarchal types. save your energy for, like, your feminist theory. also, if you’re kinda ditzy, those moments when you aren’t can be extra-terrifying and meaningful. (karaj) exactly. someday I’ll write about myself in grade 8, when I wore blue eyeshadow everyday, read cosmogirl obsessively, and wrote an essay for social studies about the amazons cutting off their sons’ limbs so they wouldn’t be able to run away (I thought their violence was problematic but supported the cause).
